Integrative Medicine
(Also known as Complimentary or
Alternative Medicine)
"The Doctor
of the Future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients
in the Care of the Human frame, in diet, and in the cause and
prevention of disease. "- Thomas Edison
Many people want
to explore other treatment pathways that conventional medicine may
not offer. But in doing some are concerned that complimentary
practitioners (eg naturopath's etc) may not have the
necessary medical skill or qualifications to give them confidence
in the treatment advice. We have addressed this issue by employing
trained Medical Practitioners (GP's) who are also
trained Integrative Practitioners. In addition, we want
to assure Christians that any treatment modality is not
contrary to their beliefs.

Definition
The terms complementary and alternative medicine describe a range
of healing systems, many with centuries of accumulated practitioner
knowledge and experience. They are often seen as an alternative to
orthodox medicine, yet conventional medicine and alternative
medicine can no longer be seen as mutually exclusive or opposing
approaches to health. At the Total Wellbeing Centre our approach to
healthcare incorporates orthodox and integrative Medicine as well
as other therapies to bring about Total Wellbeing to the Whole
person.
Total Wellbeing is the state of enjoying maximum Physical, Mental,
Emotional, Financial, Relational and Spiritual Wellbeing. Simply
stated, Total Wellbeing is being Totally Well.
How Does Integrative
Medicine Work?
Integrative medicine practice may vary between individual
practitioners, however the common approach at the Total Wellbeing
Centre involves the following aims:
Treat the whole person— Our aim is to bring about physical,
mental, emotional, financial relational and spiritual
wellbeing.
Prevent illness and aim for optimal health – and involve the
patient in this aim.
Individualise treatment regimes - in response to the
individual rather than to a disease entity.
Treat the causes of illness - rather than suppress symptoms
– by supporting the body’s natural healing processes.
Above all, cause no harm and to love our patients as we love
ourselves.

lifestyle, stress, and environmental factors. Physical examination,
clinical and laboratory diagnostic tests may be performed or
recommended. A treatment plan usually includes lifestyle
modifications (e.g., sleep, exercise and relaxation practices),
dietary recommendations, nutritional supplements, and/or IVC

other counseling as part of the overall therapy. You are always
